What Workout Roadbook does

Workout Roadbook lets you import a GPX track, create GPS waypoints, and follow a route.

With a paired Apple Watch, the selected plan is installed on the watch. Roadbook follows GPS waypoints while Apple’s Workout app manages the workout session.

When no Apple Watch is paired, Other Watch mode follows the route on the iPhone you carry. It creates ordinary iOS notifications that a compatible connected watch may relay, depending on its settings. Roadbook does not provide a Garmin, Suunto, or other third-party watch app, and does not provide independent GPS tracking on those watches.

Workout Roadbook is not a medical, training, nutritional, safety, emergency, or turn-by-turn navigation service. Always use appropriate preparation, equipment, and judgment.

Data processed on your devices

Roadbook processes GPX tracks, route plans, waypoints, route progress, and temporary technical records locally on your iPhone and Apple Watch.

The app uses this information to:

• display and edit routes;

• prepare supported Apple Workout configurations;

• install a selected plan on Apple Watch;

• estimate route progress;

• trigger configured waypoints;

• manage transfer acknowledgements, deletion requests, and temporary tracking state.

Roadbook has no user account, no developer-controlled cloud service, no analytics service, no advertising SDK, and no tracking system.

Roadbook does not upload your GPX files, plans, or live location to the publisher’s servers.

Location and notifications

In Apple Watch mode, Roadbook requests precise location permission on Apple Watch when you prepare to start a plan. Plans with waypoints also require notification permission. During a plan you start, including when the display is off or the app is in the background, the watch’s location is processed locally to estimate progress and determine when a waypoint is reached.

In Other Watch mode, Roadbook requests precise location and notification permissions on iPhone when you start tracking. You must carry the iPhone. Its location may continue to be processed locally in the background while tracking is active.

Roadbook creates ordinary iOS notifications in Other Watch mode. A compatible connected watch and its companion app may relay their text according to their settings. Roadbook does not send your GPX route or live location to the watch manufacturer and cannot verify that an alert was seen, heard, or felt.

Focus modes, notification settings, silent mode, GPS conditions, and connected-watch settings may affect notifications. Force-quitting the iPhone app stops Other Watch tracking. Interrupted GPS tracking is not resumed automatically.

Apple Watch, Workout, Health, and Fitness

In Apple Watch mode, Roadbook can open a configured workout in Apple’s Workout app when you request it.

Apple’s Workout app manages the workout session and its Health and Fitness data. Roadbook does not read or write HealthKit workout data, and deleting a Roadbook plan does not delete workouts saved by Apple.

Other Watch mode does not start, control, or save a workout on a third-party watch.

App Store purchases and reviews

Workout Roadbook is purchased when downloaded from the App Store. It has no in-app purchases, subscriptions, paywall, or free trial.

Apple processes payment information under its own terms. Roadbook does not receive your payment details.

The iPhone app stores local counters, dates, and an app-version value to avoid asking for an App Store review too early or too often. These values are not sent to NeoStudent or to an analytics service.

If Apple displays its review sheet and you submit a review, Apple handles that submission under its own terms. Roadbook does not collect your rating or review text.

Data retention and deletion

Imported GPX tracks and plans remain on your iPhone until you delete them or remove the app. They may be included in device backups according to your Apple system settings.

The selected plan remains on Apple Watch until it is replaced, deleted, or the Watch app is removed.

During a run, Roadbook may retain a minimal local execution record, such as timestamps, route progress, triggered waypoints, and delivery state. This supports reliable waypoint handling while tracking is active or while pending alerts are being processed.

In Other Watch mode, the temporary iPhone tracking checkpoint is excluded from device backups. It is removed when tracking stops, when the route finishes, or when the app handles an interrupted run. If storage is temporarily unavailable, cleanup is retried before another run can start.

You can delete plans in Roadbook, stop tracking explicitly, and withdraw location or notification permissions in iOS or watchOS Settings.

Sharing

Roadbook does not sell, rent, share, or disclose your GPX routes, plans, or live location to advertisers, data brokers, or the publisher’s servers.

Apple platform services may transfer the selected plan between your paired iPhone and Apple Watch. Your device backups, App Store purchase, connected-watch notification relay, and any review submitted through Apple are governed by Apple’s terms and settings.
