Scope and purpose
Workout Roadbook helps you import a GPX route, configure a supported Apple Workout, add location-based waypoints, and install one selected plan on your paired Apple Watch.
During an active plan, the app uses the Apple Watch location to follow your progress along the route and present the waypoints you created.
Workout Roadbook does not provide medical, nutritional, training, or safety advice. It is not a turn-by-turn navigation service, an emergency service, or a substitute for appropriate preparation, equipment, and judgment.
GPX routes and plan data processed on your devices
When you select a GPX file, Workout Roadbook may process the route name, coordinates, elevations, distances, track segments, and other technical information contained in the file.
A plan may include the selected activity, an Apple Workout configuration, waypoint positions, names, colours, information, actions, and personal notes.
These data are stored locally on your iPhone. The plan you choose is transferred directly to your paired Apple Watch using Apple platform services and is stored locally on the watch.
The app uses these data only to display and edit your route, prepare a supported workout configuration, install the selected plan on your Apple Watch, follow your progress, and present your waypoints.
Workout Roadbook contains no user account, developer-controlled cloud service, advertising SDK, or third-party analytics SDK. GPX routes and plans are not uploaded to our servers.
Location and notifications
Workout Roadbook requests location permission on the Apple Watch when you start a plan. If the plan contains waypoints, the app also requests permission to send notifications.
During an active plan, including while the screen is locked or the app is running in the background, the Apple Watch location is used to estimate your progress along the GPX route and determine when a waypoint has been reached.
Live location is processed on the Apple Watch. It is not uploaded to our servers and is not stored by Workout Roadbook as a continuous GPS location history.
For reliability and recovery, the app may retain a local execution record containing information such as timestamps, progress distance, triggered waypoints, and confirmations. These records do not contain a continuous history of your geographic coordinates.
Waypoint notifications are generated locally on the Apple Watch.
You may withdraw location or notification permission at any time in Settings. Without location access, route tracking cannot start. Without notification permission, waypoint alerts may not be delivered.
Apple Workout, Health, and Fitness
When you request it, Workout Roadbook opens the configured workout in Apple’s Workout app.
Apple’s Workout app manages the workout session, sensor measurements, workout alerts, pauses, and the workout saved to Apple Health and Fitness.
Workout Roadbook does not start a second workout session, request access to read your Health records, or read your live heart rate, pace, speed, power, or cadence. It does not modify or delete workouts stored in Apple Health.
Apple handles Health and Fitness data under the permissions you grant and Apple’s own privacy terms.
Purchase and app data
Apple processes the non-consumable in-app purchase and provides Workout Roadbook with product information and verified entitlement status through StoreKit. Apple’s terms and privacy policy apply to that processing.
Workout Roadbook does not receive or store your payment-card or billing information.
The app stores only the local preferences, plan identifiers, transfer receipts, and entitlement information required to operate the app and keep the iPhone and Apple Watch plan states consistent.
Website data
The public website is hosted by Hostinger International Limited. Hostinger may process IP addresses and technical logs required to deliver, secure, and maintain the website.
This processing is based on the legitimate interest in operating and protecting the website. Logs are retained only for the period required for hosting and security under the provider’s retention settings.
Website logs do not contain GPX routes, Apple Watch locations, workout records, or other data processed inside the app.
Recipients and transfers
Workout Roadbook does not disclose GPX routes, plan data, location data, or workout data to the publisher, advertisers, analytics providers, or data brokers.
Apple processes purchase-related information and provides the platform services used to communicate between your iPhone and Apple Watch and to open the configured workout.
Hostinger processes website technical data as described above. These providers may use approved subprocessors and legal transfer safeguards under their own privacy terms.
Retention and control
Workout Roadbook does not retain personal data on a developer-controlled server.
Imported routes and plans remain on your iPhone until you delete them or remove the app.
The selected plan remains on your Apple Watch until it is replaced, deleted, or the watch app is removed. Local execution records and technical transfer data remain on the relevant device until they are removed with the corresponding app data.
Workouts created by Apple’s Workout app remain in Apple Health and Fitness until you manage or delete them there.
Purchase records are retained by Apple under Apple’s applicable terms.
Your rights
Depending on your location, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or object to the processing of personal data controlled by the publisher.

Because GPX routes, plans, and Apple Watch locations do not reach the publisher’s servers, you manage these data and permissions directly on your devices.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why can’t I import my GPX file?
Make sure the selected file uses the .gpx extension and contains a valid track or route with geographic coordinates.
Try opening the file again from the Files app. If the problem continues, contact support and, if possible, attach a non-sensitive sample file that reproduces the issue.
Why can’t I install a plan on my Apple Watch?
Make sure your Apple Watch is paired with your iPhone and that Workout Roadbook is installed on both devices.
Keep the devices nearby, open Workout Roadbook on the Apple Watch once, then return to the plan on your iPhone and choose Apple Watch → Install this plan.
Only one plan can be installed on the Apple Watch at a time. Installing another plan replaces the previous one.
Why does the purchase appear as unavailable?
Workout Roadbook could not retrieve the purchase information from the App Store.
Check your internet connection, make sure you are signed in to the App Store, then close and reopen the purchase screen and tap Try Again.
If you are using a TestFlight build, purchases operate in Apple’s sandbox environment. Contact support if the problem continues.
Can I restore my purchase?
Yes.
Open Workout Roadbook, tap the information button, select Workout Roadbook Premium, then tap Restore Purchase.
Use the same Apple Account that was used for the original purchase.
Does Workout Roadbook record my workout?
No.
Workout Roadbook prepares the plan and opens the configured workout in Apple’s Workout app. Apple’s Workout app manages the session and saves it to Health and Fitness.
Do not start a second workout manually at the same time.
Why didn’t a waypoint alert appear?
Make sure location and notification permissions are enabled for Workout Roadbook on the Apple Watch and that the plan is actively running.
GPS accuracy may be affected by terrain, buildings, vegetation, weather, or the way the Apple Watch is worn. Always test the complete plan before relying on it during an event.
Can I use the plan without my iPhone?
Yes.
Once the plan has been installed on the Apple Watch, its route and waypoints remain available without the iPhone or a network connection.
Route editing and GPX import remain on the iPhone.
Does Workout Roadbook upload my GPX files or location data?
No.
GPX routes, plans, and live location are processed locally on your devices. They are not uploaded to our servers.
The selected plan is transferred directly between your iPhone and Apple Watch using Apple platform services.
Which activities are supported?
Workout Roadbook currently supports outdoor running, trail running, hiking, and cycling plans.
Available workout metrics and alerts depend on Apple’s Workout app, the Apple Watch model, connected sensors, and the installed operating-system version.
