Privacy Policy

Scope and purpose

This Privacy Policy explains how Workout Story handles information when you use the iOS app or visit its website. Workout Story is designed around data minimisation: it does not require an account, does not operate a social network and does not upload your workout data, routes, photos or creations to our servers.

Information used by the app

Workout Story accesses information only after you grant the relevant iOS permissions.

Apple Health. The app may read compatible workouts and the data needed to build a Story, including activity type, start and end times, duration, workout route, distance, altitude and elevation, active energy, heart rate, running or cycling power, cycling cadence, and workout pause or resume events. The exact data available depends on the workout and the devices or apps that recorded it.

Photos. The app may read photos you select or photos taken around the time of a workout, together with useful metadata such as capture date and, when available, location. Limited Photos access remains supported, and you can add photos through Apple’s system photo picker.

Subject isolation. When a visual style uses a depth effect, Apple Vision may process the selected photo locally to isolate its main subject. The resulting mask is temporary and is not sent to us.

Purchases. Apple processes the one-time Premium purchase through StoreKit.
Workout Story receives purchase status and product information, but not your full payment details. Apple’s own terms and privacy policy apply to the transaction.

How the information is used

The app uses this information solely to:

- find photos associated with a workout;

- place each photo at the appropriate point in the activity;

- calculate cumulative progress and available statistics;

- generate previews and exported Story images;

- remember your local preferences; and

- confirm whether Premium has been purchased.

Workout Story does not use Health data or Photos for advertising, marketing, profiling, data brokerage or credit decisions. We do not sell this information.

Local processing and network activity

When you request it, Workout Roadbook opens the configured workout in Apple’s Workout app.

Apple’s Workout app manages the workout session, sensor measurements, workout alerts, pauses, and the workout saved to Apple Health and Fitness.

Workout Roadbook does not start a second workout session, request access to read your Health records, or read your live heart rate, pace, speed, power, or cadence. It does not modify or delete workouts stored in Apple Health.

Apple handles Health and Fitness data under the permissions you grant and Apple’s own privacy terms.

Storage and retention

- Workout and photo source data is read when needed and is not copied into a permanent Workout Story library.

- Photos added with the system picker and high-resolution export files are kept in protected temporary storage only for the current work and are deleted when no longer needed.

- Subject masks and previews are temporary.

- App preferences and onboarding status remain locally on the device until you change them, reset the app or delete the app.

- Exported images remain in your Photos library until you delete them. Their retention and iCloud synchronisation follow your Photos settings.

- Purchase records are retained and managed by Apple under Apple’s policies.

Workout Story does not keep a server-side history of your creations.

Sharing and recipients

We do not receive or share your Health data, routes, photos or exported creations. Information is disclosed only when you deliberately use an Apple system action, such as saving to Photos, purchasing through StoreKit, or contacting support.

If you contact support, we receive the information you choose to include in your message. Please do not send Health exports, precise routes or private photos unless they are necessary to resolve your request and you intentionally choose to share them.

Permissions and your controls

You can review or revoke permissions at any time:

- Health access: Settings > Privacy & Security > Health > Workout Story

- Photos access: Settings > Privacy & Security > Photos > Workout Story

- iCloud Photos: Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Photos

Revoking a permission may limit the related feature, but it does not affect images you have already exported. You can delete exported images directly from Photos and remove local app data by deleting the app.

Website and support data

The Workout Story website is hosted by Hostinger. Like most web hosts, Hostinger may process technical logs such as IP address, browser information, requested page, date and time for delivery, reliability and security. We do not use the Workout Story page for behavioural advertising and do not add a separate copy of app Health data or Photos to the website.

If you email support, your email address, message and attachments are processed to answer and follow up on your request. They are retained only as long as needed for support, fraud prevention, legal obligations and dispute handling, then deleted or anonymised where appropriate.

International transfers

App content is not transferred to our servers. Apple, Hostinger or your email provider may process limited service data in other countries under their own privacy terms and applicable transfer safeguards.

Your privacy rights

Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of personal information, and to obtain a portable copy where relevant. Because Workout Story does not receive your app Health data, Photos or creations, those items must be managed on your device or through your Apple account.

For website or support information, send a request to support@neostudent.app. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. If you are in France, you may also contact the CNIL https://www.cnil.fr or another competent data protection authority.

Security

Workout Story minimises retained information, uses iOS permission controls and stores temporary working files with iOS file protection. No method of storage or transmission is completely risk-free, but the app is designed to avoid unnecessary collection and network exposure.

Changes and contact

We may update this policy when the app, applicable law or service providers change. The latest version and its update date will remain available on this page. Material changes will be communicated in an appropriate way.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why can’t I see my activity?

Check that the activity is present in Apple Health and that Workout Story has permission to read Workouts. Workout Story currently supports recent compatible outdoor activities. Health does not reveal which individual data types were denied, so reviewing the permission in Settings is the best first step.

Why was no photo found?

Automatic matching uses the photo’s capture time around the activity. A missing or incorrect date can prevent a match. You can always use Add or Choose Photos to select an image manually, including when Photos access is limited.

Why is a route or statistic missing?

Workout Story only shows data available and reliable enough for the selected activity. Indoor workouts, missing GPS, interrupted recordings or data written by another app may provide only partial information. The Story should still use a fallback layout rather than fail.

Why is the position on the route approximate?

The app primarily matches the photo’s capture time to timestamped workout data. If route timestamps or photo metadata are incomplete, it uses the best available temporal fallback. A manually added photo can be associated with the currently selected point in the activity.

Where are my Stories stored?

Workout Story has no internal creation library. Your working Story is temporary. Images you export are saved to Apple Photos and stay there until you delete them.

How does the free export work?

The free version can save the current image with a central watermark. A small “Workout Story” signature remains on all exports. Premium is a one-time purchase that enables batch export and removes the central watermark.

I purchased Premium but it is not active

Open the Premium screen and choose Restore Purchase while signed in with the Apple Account used for the purchase. If Apple reports a billing issue, visit https://reportaproblem.apple.com/. If restoration still fails, contact us with the error message and app version—never send payment credentials.

Does Workout Story upload my data?

No developer-operated server receives your Health data, routes, Photos or creations. Apple services may handle Photos, iCloud or purchases according to your device settings and Apple account, as detailed in the Privacy Policy.
